Yung Kidd (formerly known as CEO Kidd) is a rapper, singer, and songwriter. He’s mostly known for his “Hyphy” style of rap. His flow is fast and his beats are smooth which gives his songs an 80’s disco/rap vibe. Kidd’s delivery is energetic and his punchlines are crucial. Bars from his rap always hold some kind of double meaning. Kidd released his first song, “Hoochie Freestyle,” in March of 2018 under the name CEO Kidd. CAREER
Joshua was raised by his father in Memphis, Tennessee. He attended Egypt Elementary School along with his cousins. Inspired by his mother, Joshua began freestyling at the early age of 8. He wrote his first song at 13. Joshua drew further inspiration from the rap groups Three 6 Mafia, UGK, Whodini, 8ball & MJG, Run DMC, and DJ Afrika Bambaataa. At age 14, Joshua was in a severe car accident that scarred his face and shattered his femur. The accident left him handicapped for months and he was oftentimes ridiculed because of it. This resulted in him having serious anger issues. Nevertheless, Joshua was able to pour all his built-up negative energy into making music.

In his freshman year of High School, Joshua’s peers often told him that he had a gift and that he shouldn’t let that gift go to waste. Later that year, he was equipped with a computer, condenser microphone, and a digital audio workshop software. His setup allowed him to make beats and record vocals. In the months that follow, Joshua recorded and released his first song “Hoochie Freestyle” under the alias CEO Kidd. He followed up with singles like “Rickylake” and “Mad Max.”

Seeing that his peers genuinely liked his talent for music, Joshua began to take things more seriously. His work ethic improved and before long his breakthrough single “Macs Out” graced the web. The track created enough buzz online and exposed him to a wider audience.
