Young Jeezy is a Grammy-nominated American rapper. He’s the founder of CTE World and head of the hip hop group USDA (United Street Dopeboyz of America). His discography includes Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101 (2005), The Inspiration (2006), and The Recession (2008). Jeezy was born Jay Wayne Jenkins on September 28, 1977, in Columbia, South Carolina. His parents separated when he was still a child. He has a sister named Katrina Wright. Jeezy grew up in Macon, Georgia. He had several run-ins with the law as a teenager. At one point he spent several months in a boot camp for drug possession.

CAREER
Jeezy founded the indie record label CTE World (Corporate Thugz Entertainment) in 1998. He signed a distribution deal with Def Jam South and Island Def Jam in 2005. Past and present CTE artists include Slick Pulla, Lil Durk, YG, and Freddie Gibbs. Jeezy’s debut studio album, Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101, was released in July 2005. It peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the Top Rap Albums chart. The Platinum-certified album was led by the singles “And Then What” featuring Mannie Fresh, and “Soul Survivor” featuring Akon. Jeezy’s second album, The Inspiration, was released in December 2006. It debuted atop the Billboard 200 and sold over 350,000 copies during opening week. It featured guest artists like R. Kelly, Timbaland, and Keyshia Cole.

Jeezy formed the rap group, USDA (United Street Dopeboyz of America), in 2005. Prior to that, he was a member of the Southern gangsta rap group, Boyz n da Hood. The original members of USDA were Jeezy, Slick Pulla and Blood Raw. Rappers Boo Rossini and 2Eleven joined the group at a later date. USDA’s debut album, Cold Summer, was released by Corporate Thugz and Def Jam in May 2007. The album’s lead single “White Girl” charted at #57 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. It was produced by Drumma Boy.

Young Jeezy’s third solo album, The Recession, dropped in September 2008. It featured production from DJ Toomp, Midnight Black, Don Cannon, The Inkredibles and a few others. It boasted guest vocals from Kanye West, Trey Songz, Anthony Hamilton, Nas and Lil Boosie. His other albums include TM:103 Hustlerz Ambition (2011), Church in These Streets (2015), Trap or Die 3 (2016), and Snow Season (2017). Jeezy has a total of 4 Grammy Award nominations. He won a BET Award in 2010 for the single “Hard” alongside Rihanna. In 2013, he collaborated with 2 Chainz on the Billboard Hot 100 single “R.I.P”. He was later featured on the track “Money Can’t Buy” from Ne-Yo‘s 6th album Non-Fiction.
