Wes Craven was an American horror film director, screenwriter, and producer. He specialized in slasher films and was best known for projects like A Nightmare on Elm Street featuring ‘Freddy Krueger’, the Scream series, and Wes Craven’s New Nightmare. Wes Craven grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and earned his master’s degree in Philosophy & Writing from John Hopkins University. Prior to his directing career, he taught English at Westminster College and humanities at Clarkson College of Technology. He made his film debut in 1972 with ‘The Last House on the Left’ which he wrote and directed. He died of brain cancer at the age of 76 on August 30, 2015. Wes Craven had a net worth of $40 million.
