TJ Porter is an American rapper from Harlem, New York. He’s known for bangers like “Tricky”, “Do You Care?” and “Harlem.” Signed to Def Jam Recordings, the former hooper dropped his debut album, Voice of the Trenches, in June 2019. His previous projects include More To Life (2016), We Gone Ball (2017). Porter was born Terrence Reaves on May 15, 2000, in Harlem, New York. His initial dream was to become a basketball star. However, he suffered an ankle injury at Cardinal Hayes High School which altered his career path. He was also inspired by the death of his friend Juwan “Chico” Tavarez to pursue music.

CAREER
Thanks to his uncle, Porter grew up to the sounds of heavy-hitters like The Notorious B.I.G., Nas and 50 Cent. He also listened to acts like Chris Brown, Ne-Yo and Meek Mill. Porter’s debut mixtape, More To Life, was released in October 2016. It was supported by tracks “Change Up” and “Basic B!tch” featuring Neek Bucks. His sophomore project, We Gone Ball: The EP, dropped in April 2017. It featured Zion Montana on the song “Better Run.” The second installment, We Gone Ball 2, followed closely in August 2017. His non-album song “Save Me Freestyle” was released in September 2017.

2018 welcomed tracks “Hennessy”, “Trench Talk”, “Glowin’ Up” and “Heartless.” The latter was produced by Cormil and the official video has been viewed 475K+ times on YouTube. Porter is currently signed to Def Jam Recordings. His 3-track EP, Pregame, was released in November 2018. It was spearheaded by single “Tricky”, produced Azar and Cam. Tricky became his go-to song, now with more than 5 million spins on SoundCloud. The supporting visual has north of 810K views. It was shot and edited by Reilly Balcom.

Porter kicked off 2019 with his ‘No Disturbance’ EP. It featured songs “Cheated”, “I Can’t”, “The Don” and “Harder Than Ever” with Jay Gwuapo and KJ Balla. Even without an official video, ‘Harder Than Ever’ garnered millions of streams across platforms like SoundCloud and Spotify. In March 2019, Porter appeared on tracks “Bay 2 NY” and “Recount” from Def Jam’s ‘Undisputed’ compilation album. The project also featured up-and-coming acts like YK Osiris, Nimic Revenue, Lul G, and S3nsi Molly.

Porter’s Full-length debut, Voice of the Trenches, arrived in June 2019 via Def Jam. It was led by singles “Do You Care?”, “Harlem”, “True Feelings” and “Flooding the Streets” featuring Calboy. The Harlem rapper is slated to perform at the 2019 Day N’ Vegas Festival (w/ Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, J. Cole, etc). Porter has 295K+ monthly listeners on Spotify. His SoundCloud boasts 26K+ followers.

TJ Porter’s height is around 5ft 10in and he’s of African-American descent. His net worth is estimated at $250 thousand USD. In addition to music sale and shows, he also has a partnership with Nike. The stage name “TJ Porter” was inspired by American drug dealer “Rich Porter” (portrayed in the 2002 film Paid in Full). He was first discovered by music manager Wayne “Wayno” Clark in late 2017.
