Thutmose is a Nigerian-born American rapper and songwriter. He’s known for standout singles “Blame”, “Memories”, “Summer’s Gone” and “Run Wild” with NoMBe. His debut mixtape, Man On Fire, was released in 2018. Thut has opened for acts like Billie Eilish and Migos. He’s already collaborated with NYC artists Jay Critch and Desiigner.

Given name, Umar Ibrahim, he was born on August 4, 1993, in Lagos, Nigeria. At age 9, he relocated to the United States, settling in Brooklyn, New York. The family fled Nigeria following the 2002 Lagos Armoury explosion. Thut recalls the SWAT team raiding his Brooklyn home within months of arriving in the USA. He listened to Michael Jackson and Erykah Badu back in Nigeria. Thut emerged on SoundCloud in 2016 with “Mississippi Masala”, produced by Warren Xcince. He followed up with “American Beauty (Overdose)” two months later. Thutmose dropped a freestyle to Kendrick Lamar’s “Humble” in May 2017. The track went viral, racking up thousands of plays on SoundCloud and YouTube. He opened for pop singer Billie Eilish during her 2017 Don’t Smile at me Tour.

The project title was inspired by Denzel Washington’s 2004 film of the same name. Man On Fire boasted an intro by Erykah Badu on the track “Pressure.” The tape featured guest appearances from Jay Critch, Desiigner, Pink Sweat$ and a few others. Production was handled by KillaGraham and Scott Storch among others.

Thutmose is about 5ft 11in tall and he’s of Nigerian descent. The “Thutmose” moniker was inspired by “Thutmose I”, Egypt’s 3rd pharaoh of the 18th dynasty. Prior to music, Thut worked at J.
