Terry Wogan was an Irish television and radio personality. He was born on August 3, 1938, in Limerick, Ireland. He attended Crescent College followed by Belvedere College in Dublin. He worked briefly in banking for the Royal Bank of Ireland. He later joined the national broadcaster of Ireland where he worked as a newsreader and announcer.
CAREER
Wogan made his debut with BBC Radio in 1966 presenting the ‘Late Night Extra’ every Tuesday for two years. He gained further popularity in 1972 when he replaced disc jockey John Dunn on BBC Radio 2. His other notable radio shows include ‘Wake Up to Wogan (1993-2009)’ and ‘Weekend Wogan (2010-2015)’. He presented the charity show ‘Children in Need’ from 1980-2014.
