Taylor Alison Swift is a Grammy-winning American singer and songwriter. She was born on December 13, 1989 in Reading, Pennsylvania. Her father, Scott, is a financial advisor and her mother, Andrea, a homemaker. She has a younger brother named Austin. Swift relocated to Tennessee at age 14 to pursue music. She attended Hendersonville High School and later the Aaron Academy (homeschooling).

Swift began her music career at the age of nine. She sang and performed in a number of local events. By age 12, she was writing her own lyrics and began taking guitar lessons. Swift was signed to the independent label Big Machine Records in 2005. Her debut single “Tim McGraw” was released in June 2006 followed by her self-titled debut album in October.
