Tay-K (Tay-K 47) is an American rapper and former member of the rap group Daytona Boyz. He rose to prominence with the hit single “The Race” from his mixtape #SantanaWorld (2017). In 2017, Tay-K was arrested in Elizabeth, New Jersey, on capital murder charges. He was convicted on July 23, 2019, and sentenced to 55 years behind bars. Given the name Taymor Travon McIntyre, he was born on June 16, 2000, in Long Beach, California. His mother was a member of the Baby Insane Crip, and his father was locked up for most of his childhood. He has a sister. Tay-K lived briefly in Las Vegas, Nevada. The family relocated to Arlington, Texas, when he was about 9. He attended Martin High School followed by Turning Point.

CAREER
Tay-K 47 began rapping in his early teens. His music influences include artists like Soulja Boy and Chief Keef. He started out performing locally as a member of the rap group ‘Daytona Boyz.’ The other members were rappers Pimpyz and Santana Sage (Eric Johnson). One of their first track “Drift” was released to SoundCloud in late 2014. Tay-K made his solo debut in August 2015 with the song “BIFF XANNEN”, produced by 1999 Beats. A second song titled “Sly Cooper” was released a month later. His first hit track “Megaman” was released in March 2016. It was produced by Russ808. The song received 4+ million spins on SoundCloud and the official video has 10+ million views on YouTube. He’s received shout outs from several artists, including Lil Bibby and XXXtentacion.

Tay-K dropped a number of tracks while he was on the run from the police. His debut mixtape, #SantanaWorld, was independently released in July 2017. It was led by the hit single “The Race” which was produced by S.Diesel. It peaked at #44 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #23 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The official music video for “The Race” has been viewed more than 170 million times on YouTube. The song has been remixed by artists like Lil Yachty, Fetty Wap and Tyga. Other tracks from the #SantanaWorld tape include “Murder She Wrote”, “Lemonade”, “Saran Pack” and “Dat Way”. Tay-K is signed to J Grand’s independent label 88 Classic. The label is home to rapper King Los. His latest single “Hard” featuring BlocBoy JB was released in March 2018.

PERSONAL
Tay-K along with 6 others were arrested in July 2016 on capital murder charges. He was placed under house arrest until certification hearings were held. However, days before the hearings he removed his ankle monitor and fled to San Antonio, Texas. He was captured on June 30, 2017, by the U.S. Marshal Service in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Tay-K was transferred to an adult jail in July 2017 and it was decided that he would be tried as an adult in the case. A second murder charge was brought against him in September 2017. On July 15, 2019, Tay-K pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated robbery relating to the July 2016 crime. He pleaded not guilty to capital murder, and not guilty to a separate count of aggravated robbery relating to Zachary Beloate. Tay-K was ultimately found guilty of murder and his sentencing was carried out on July 23, 2019. He was sentenced to 55 Years.
