ORIGIN
Stevie J is an American music producer, singer, songwriter, and television personality. He’s produced for artists like The Notorious B.I.G., Jay Z and Mariah Carey. His television credits include Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, and Stevie J & Joseline: Go Hollywood. Stevie J was born Steven Aaron Jordan on November 2, 1973, in Buffalo, New York. His parents were Moses Jordan and Penny Daniels. He was raised primarily by his father in Rochester, New York.

CAREER
Stevie J played the bass guitar for the R&B quartet ‘Jodeci’ in the early 1990s. He was featured on their third album, The Show, the After Party, the Hotel (1995). He also worked briefly with the collective ‘Swing Mob’ until they folded in 1995. Stevie J later joined Bad Boy Records. There he served as a producer and songwriter (the Hitmen). His early productions include the single “Only You” from the R&B group 112’s self-titled debut album. He produced the single “Mo Money Mo Problems” from The Notorious B.I.G.‘s final album, Life After Death (1997). Stevie J won a Grammy Award for his contribution to Puff Daddy‘s debut studio album, No Way Out (1997). The project won the best rap album award.

In addition to Bad Boy Records, Stevie J has produced for artists like Beyonce, Brian McKnight and Lil Kim. He picked up a Grammy Award nomination for his work on Mariah Carey’s 6th album, Butterfly (1997). For that project, he produced tracks like “Honey”, “Breakdown” and “Babydoll”. Stevie J co-wrote Eve’s 2001 hit single “Let Me Blow Ya Mind”. The track peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100. He’s also written songs for acts like Boyz II Men, and Tamia.

Stevie J made his television debut in 2012 on the reality series, Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. The show premiered on June 18 2012 on VH1. He was added to the main cast in 2015 starting with season 4. Stevie J hosted the pre-show at the 2013 and 2014 BET Hip Hop Awards. He appeared in the VH1 spin-off series, Stevie J & Joseline: Go Hollywood (2016) and Leave It To Stevie (2016).
