Steve Wynn is an American entrepreneur, real estate businessman, and art collector. He became a billionaire through his work in the casino/hotel industry. His notable projects include the Golden Nugget, The Mirage, the Bellagio, Treasure Island, and Beau Rivage. Wynn currently serves as the CEO of Wynn Resorts. He was the finance chairman of the Republican National Committee from January 2017 to January 2018. Stephen Alan Wynn was born on January 27, 1942, in New Haven, Connecticut. His father, Michael Weinberg (d. 1963), changed the family’s last name to “Wynn” in 1946. He grew up in Utica, New York, and attended Manlius Pebble Hill School in DeWitt, New York. He earned his BA degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania (1963). He was a member of the college fraternity Sigma Alpha Mu.

CAREER
Wynn took over the family’s bingo parlor business following the death of his father. In 1967, He relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he purchased a small stake in the Frontier Hotel and Casino. His first major project was the renovation and expansion of the Golden Nugget Las Vegas. He transformed the gambling hall to include a resort hotel/casino with great success. He became the majority shareholder of the company in 1973. The Golden Nugget was expanded to Atlantic City, New Jersey, in 1983. Other projects followed in the 1990s such as the Mirage, Treasure Island, Bellagio, and Beau Rivage. The Mirage Resorts was sold to MGM Grand Inc. in 2000. It has since been renamed MGM Resorts International.

Wynn currently serves as Chairman and CEO of Wynn Resorts. The company was founded in 2002 and is headquartered in the Las Vegas Strip, Nevada. It serves as an umbrella for Wynn Las Vegas, Wynn Macau, Encore Las Vegas, Wynn Palace, and Wynn Everette. Wynn was inducted into the American Gaming Association Hall of Fame in 2006. He was named to the 2006 list of ‘World’s 100 Most Influential People’ by Time magazine. His accolades also include the ATLAS Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Manfred Steinfeld Humanitarian Award. In addition to casinos, Wynn is an avid art collector. His fine art collection includes works by Picasso and Claude Monet. He paid a reported $30 million for Johannes Vermeer’s “Young Woman Seated at a Virginal” in 2004, and $33.2 for Rembrandt’s “Man with His Arms Akimbo” in 2009.

Wynn is a registered member of the Republican Party. However, he’s supported both parties at different times over the years. He spent one year as the finance chair of the Republican National Committee under president Donald Trump. He resigned in January 2018, amid sexual misconduct allegations. Prior to that, he served as vice-chairman of Trump’s inauguration committee.

Steve Wynn is 5ft 10in tall and he’s of Jewish ancestry. He suffers from the genetic eye disorder retinitis pigmentosa. Wynn was married to his first wife ‘Elaine Pascal’ from 1963-86 and from 1991-2010. They have two daughters, Kevyn and Gillian. He wed his current wife ‘Andrea Hissom’ in April 2011. Hissom has a son, Nick, from a previous relationship.

In January 2018, The Wall Street Journal reported that multiple women shared stories linking Wynn to a pattern of sexual abuse spanning several decades. One of his alleged accusers claimed she was forced into having intercourse with him back in 2005. He reportedly paid her $7.5 million to keep quiet. Wynn has denied all such accusations.
