Sophie Turner is an English film and television actress. She stars as “Sansa Stark” on the HBO fantasy-drama series Game of Thrones. Her film credits include Another Me (2013) and Barely Lethal (2015). She’s also known for her role as “Jean Grey” in the X-Men film series. Sophie Belinda Turner was born on February 21, 1996, in Northampton, England. Her mother, Sally, is a nursery school teacher, and her father, Andrew, works for a pallet distribution company. She has two older brothers, James, and Will. Turner was raised in Chesterton, Warwickshire. She attended Warwick Prep School followed by The King’s High School for Girls. She chose to pursue acting instead of enrolling at London’s Royal Ballet School.

CAREER
Turner studied drama at the Playbox Theatre Company in Warwick. Her first on-screen role was that of a young noblewoman named “Sansa Stark” in the HBO series Game of Thrones. She was 13 at the time of casting. The show premiered in April 2011 and 7 seasons have been completed as of August 2017. Turner was encouraged by her drama teacher to audition for the part. That role earned her several awards, including a Glamour Award for best UK TV actress. She also picked up 5 Screen Actors Guild Award nominations for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series. Turner played the teenage version of Vanessa Redgrave’s character “Vida Winter” in the TV film, The Thirteenth Tale (2013).
