ORIGIN
SOB X RBE is an American hip-hop group formed in Vallejo, California. The group consists of four young rappers; Yhung T.O, Daboii, Slimmy B, and Lul G. In 2017, two hit singles “Different” and “Anti” would solidify their status as talented up-and-coming rappers. Started in early 2016, the moniker represents Strictly Only Brothers, Real Boi Entertainment. Before the four formed a unit, they each would experiment with amateur recordings. Music and freestyle would often be recorded by cell phones and uploaded to YouTube and other social media platforms. How they all came to know each other ranges from friendly basketball games to online gaming. T.O is considered the one who anchors the music while Daboii, old soul and reserved, ironically, go nuts over the mike. Slimmy B, the oldest of the bunch, is rock solid and versatile. Lul G, the life of the party, is described as the baby-face villain. While the group worked on major projects together, each individual took pride in developing solo careers. CAREER
In 2017, SOB X RBE kicked off releasing their self-titled mixtape. The mixtape, featuring “Different” and “Anti,” performed considerably well. Not only were the singles very popular, but they would also become their biggest hits to date. Under the supervision of Stretch, the veteran manager, the group continued to flourish. Californian rapper Sage the Gemini took note of their talent and reached out to SOB X RBE for business opportunities. The two entities began working together, touring, and performing live. In the process, the hip hop group got introduce to a host of well-established rappers. As collective efforts continued to blossom, solo work also paid dividends.

In early 2018, after a string of solo releases, SOB X RBE dropped their debut album, Gangin. The album over achieved gracing the Billboard 200 list and peaking at 74. On one of their biggest exposure to date, Kendrick Lamar recruited them for a song on The Black Panther album “Paramedic.” The film, a huge box office hit, magnified their stamp on rap music. To further promote their music, the group invested in music videos, believing it brought their work to life. Their second album, Gangin 2, is set to be released in the September of 2018.

As mention earlier, while group projects expand, solo careers were in full swing. T.O released several singles and would sign a contract with Interscope Records. The others also put forth work of their own. In summer 2018, news broke that the group was separating. Despite still claiming to be a unit, conflicts and personal interests led members in different directions. However, to show respect, they still give each other props.
