ORIGIN
Santan Dave is a young British rapper and songwriter out of Southern London. He also goes by the moniker Dave. Throughout his early career, he has already connected with prominent entertainers such as Drake, AJ Tracey, and Fraser T Smith. In October 2018, his single “Funky Friday” featuring Fredo secured the #1 spot on the UK Singles Chart. Known officially as David Orobosa Omoregie, he was born on June 5, 1998, in Streatham, south London. He grew up with his mother and older brothers. Dave got into music from the age of 10 and immediately started writing lyrics.

Despite his taste for music, he first geared his attention towards art and animation. Throughout the whole process, Dave’s older brothers were his biggest role models. One of the early highlights of Dave’s career was his collaboration with 1138 Dripsquad on the track “Warm Up Session.” Since then, it had garnered over a million views on YouTube. Dave has also participated in Charlie Sloth’s “Fire in the Booth,” another freestyle gig, and in 2016, he collaborated with British rapper AJ Tracey on track “Thiago Silva” at Bestival.

In 2016, Dave released his debut EP titled “Six Paths.” Produced by Fraser T Smith, it reached #76 on the UK Albums Chart. His tracks reached the ear of Canadian rapper Drake who would release a remix to one of his singles “Wanna Know.” The remix gained major traction. As a result, Dave was immediately exposed to millions of new listeners. His fan base, in turn, expanded accordingly, especially in the North American market. Other notable releases include “Samantha,” which peaked at #63 on the singles chart, “Revenge,” “100M’s” and “Tequila.”

In 2017, Dave released his second EP titled “Game Over.” It, too, performed well debuting at #13 on the UK Albums Chart. In November that year, he collected a MOBO award for Best Newcomer. Fast Forward to 2018, Dave was in the limelight again. In October 2018, he released his most successful song to date “Funky Friday.” The single debuted at #1 in the UK and became his first-ever number one hit. In 3 weeks, the music video has racked up a staggering 10 million views on YouTube. Santan Dave’s debut album is due in early 2019.
