Ronnie Claire Edwards was an American actress and author. She was best known for portraying “Corabeth Walton Godsey” in the CBS series, The Waltons. Edwards was born on February 9, 1933 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Her father, Warren, was a lawyer and her mother, Pauline , a teacher. Edwards attended Classen High School in Oklahoma City. She graduated in 1951.

CAREER
Edwards began her acting career in theater in the early 1960s. She held the lead role in the 1962 musical production, Paint Your Wagon, in New York City. She’s since won three Drama-Logue Award for her stage performances. Edwards Made her feature film debut as “Sally” in the 1963 drama, All the Way Home. Other film appearances include When Every Day Was the Fourth of July (1978) with Dean Jones, The Dead Pool (1988) with Clint Eastwood, and 8 Seconds (1994) with Luke Perry.

Edwards starred as “Corabeth Walton Godsey” in the series ‘The Waltons’, created by Earl Hamner, Jr. The show ran on CBS from 1972 to 1981 for a total of 9 seasons. Edwards co-starred in the 1985 NBC series ‘Sara’ alongside Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard and Bill Maher. Other television shows include ‘Designing Women’ and ‘Boone’. She also made a guest appearance on a 1994 episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation titled “Thine Own Self”. Edwards published the cookbook ‘Sugar and Grease (paint)’ in 1994. Her autobiography ‘The Knife Thrower’s Assistant: Memoirs of a Human Target’ was published in 2000.

PERSONAL
Ronnie Claire Edwards passed away on June 14, 2016 at the age of 83. She reportedly died in her sleep. No official cause of death was given. Edwards was married to Massachusetts lawyer ‘Robert Kenneth Sands’. Sands died in 1983.
