Rico Nasty is an American rapper, songwriter, and music producer. She’s currently signed to Atlantic Records. Her musical projects include Summer’s Eve (2014), Sugar Trap (2016), Tales of Tacobella (2017), and Nasty (2018). Rico Nasty was born Maria-Cecilia Simone Kelly on May 7, 1997, in New York City. Her mother is Puerto Rican and her father is African-American. She’s an only child. Rico moved to Palmer Park, Maryland, at age 11. She attended boarding school but was kicked out for marijuana usage. As a child, she played lacrosse and soccer.

CAREER
Rico grew up listening Nas, Bob Marley and Jill Scott among others. She started out writing poetry before venturing into music. Rico dropped her debut mixtape, Summer’s Eve, in May 2014. Her second project, Sugar Trap, followed in 2016. It was supported by the singles “Hey Arnold” and “Choppa in the Trunk” featuring WillThaRapper, ChellytheMC, and Tino Loud. A remixed version of Hey Arnold featuring Lil Yachty was released later in 2016. Rico’s third mixtape, The Rico Story, premiered in July 2016. It included songs like “iCarly”, “FRiENDZONE” and “WiNSHiPS” featuring SeanTheGod. She also worked on the collaborative EP, Cuffin Season (2016), alongside Tino Loud. Rico’s Tales of Tacobella arrived on May 19. It featured Baby Ahk on the track “Cash Hoe.” She was featured on the soundtrack of The Fate of the Furious (2017) starring Vin Diesel.

The second installment of the Sugar Trap mixtape was released in October 2017. It was dubbed one of the best rap albums of 2017 by the Rolling Stones. Sugar Trap 2 produced the singles “Poppin” and “Key Lime OG.” Rapper Famous Dex was featured on the track “White.” Poppin became a viral hit with 2+ million plays on SoundCloud and 4+ million views on YouTube. The song was produced by WhoIsMike and the video directed by RemyAllure. Rico signed with Atlantic Records in June 2018 and released her mixtape ‘Nasty’. The tape featured production from Kenny Beats, and guest appearances from Blocboy JB and Lil Gnar.

PERSONAL
Rico Nasty is a mix of Puerto Rican and African-American ancestry. Her net worth is estimated at $2 million. She earns from music sales, shows/tours, and merchandise (hoodies, t-shirts, stash boxes).
