Hailing from New York City, Rich the Kid is an American rapper, songwriter, music producer, and head of Rich Forever Music. He’s currently signed to Interscope Records and formerly to Quality Control Music. Rich the Kid’s debut album, The World Is Yours, dropped in 2018. His discography also includes the mixtapes Rich Than Famous (2014), Keep Flexin (2016), and Rich Forever 3 (2017). He’s collaborated with Kendrick Lamar, Tory Lanez and YG to name a few.

Given the name Dimitri Leslie Roger, he was born on July 13, 1992, in Queens, New York. His parents separated when he was about 13. After that, he moved to College Park, Atlanta, with his mother. Rich the Kid speaks fluent English and Haitian Creole. He completed his studies at Elmont Memorial Junior-Senior High School in Elmont, New York. As for his career path, he initially wanted to become a professional skateboarder.

CAREER
Early in his career, Dimitri performed under the stage name “Black Boy the Kid.” He would eventually change it to “Rich the Kid.” His music influences include Kanye West, 50 Cent, Nas, Jay-Z, T.I., and Young Jeezy. Rich’s first mixtape, Been About the Benjamins, was released in 2013. The first two installments of the ‘Streets on Lock’ mixtapes with Migos was released later that year. His second solo mixtape, Feels Good to Be Rich, was released in August 2014 by Quality Control. It was hosted by MMG’s DJ Scream. The tape featured guest artists like Young Thug, Soulja Boy, Kodak Black, Rockie Fresh and Kirko Bangz. Another mixtape titled ‘Rich Than Famous’ was released in December 2014. It featured Bobby Shmurda and Rowdy Rebel on the single “On My Way.”

Rich dropped two mixtapes in 2015, Flexin On Purpose and Dabbin’ Fever. They featured guest vocal for the likes of Fetty Wap, Rich Homie Quan, Wiz Khalifa and Playboi Carti. In 2016, Rich the Kid founded his own label ‘Rich Forever Music.’ The first artist signed to the label was Chicago based rapper Famous Dex. They collaborated on the mixtape, Rich Forever 3 (2017), alongside Jay Critch. The tape peaked at #93 on the Billboard 200. The joint single “Ran It Up” with Young Thug was released in Summer 2016 by 300 Entertainment. Between 2016 and 2017 Rich dropped projects like ‘Trap Talk’, ‘Keep Flexin’ and ‘The Rich Forever Way.’

The World Is Yours, Rich the Kid’s debut album, was released in March 2018 by Interscope Records. It peaked at #2 on both the Billboard 200 and the Top Rap Albums chart. The album was supported by singles “Plug Walk”, “Dead Friends” and “New Freezer” featuring Kendrick Lamar. The single Pug Walk peaked at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100, and the official video has 205+ million views. Rich appeared on the track “Talk to Me” from Tory Lanez’ 3rd album Love Me Now? (2018). His sophomore album, The World Is Yours 2, is scheduled for 2019. The first two singles are “Splashin” and “4 Phones.”
