Ray Lewis is a retired American football linebacker from Bartow, Florida. He played 17 seasons in the NFL as a member of the Baltimore Ravens. He played college football at the University of Miami, earning 2x First-team All-American. Lewis is a 2x Super Bowl champion and 1x Super Bowl MVP. His career highlights include 13x Pro Bowl appearances, 7x First-team All-Pro, and 2x NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in February 2018. Following his retirement, Lewis joined ESPN as a contributor. He was picked up by Fox Sports 1 in June 2017. Lewis will compete on season 28 of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. Lewis tried out different sports during his time at Kathleen High School in Lakeland. He earned All-American linebacker honors as a member of the football team. He also showed great promise as a wrestler, a talent shared by his father. Lewis was scouted by the University of Miami to play football for the Miami Hurricanes football team. For his sophomore and junior seasons, he earned first-team All-American and All-Big East honors. Lewis finished in second place for the Butkus Award, which is given to the top linebackers. He led the Big East in tackles with 153 for the 1994 season, and with 160 for the 1995 seasons. Lewis completed his BA degree at the University of Maryland Global Campus in 2004. He majored in Arts and Science.

Lewis was selected by the Baltimore Ravens with the 26th overall pick in the 1996 NFL Draft. Sporting the #52 jersey, he made 5 consecutive Pro Bowl appearances from 1997–2001 and back-to-back First-team All-Pro from 1999-2001. He was named NFL defensive player of the year in 2000 and 2003. Lewis spearheaded the Ravens to the 2000 Super Bowl championship (XXXV), earning MVP honors in the process. He earned his 2nd Super Bowl title in 2013 (XLVII). Lewis spent his entire 17-year NFL career with the Ravens. His retirement was made official in 2013. The organization honored him with the Baltimore Ravens Ring of Honor on September 22, 2013.
