ORIGIN
Nigel Bond (better known as “PromoBoi”) is an American rapper & record producer. He has produced for artists like Mila J, PnB Rock, and Tory Lanez. PromoBoi is also known for his mixtape series “Take Care Forever,” a trilogy of tapes that landed him a record deal with AWAL. In recent work, his debut single “Braxton” has been going viral, hitting over 500K plays on Apple Music and SoundCloud, collectively. In 2014, PromoBoi started his own record label “Mindset Records.” Below the imprint, he created his own content & released it indie. He’s also orchestrated marketing campaigns for artists, Marques Houston & Mila J.

PromoBoi was born Nigel Bond on October 19, 1995, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He dropped out of high school in the 11th grade. He, then, relocated to Miami, FL with Chicago native, Lil Mouse. PromoBoi eventually met with recording artist, Teyana Taylor and NFL star, Bryant Mckinnie; forging a relationship with them. Aside from directing and producing music earlier in his career, PromoBoi did radio hosting where he met “Empire’s” actor Bryshere Gray, better known as Yazz. The two started pursuing music together.

CAREER
In 2010, PromoBoi inked his first recording deal with Slip N Slide Records. He currently holds a contract with the AWAL label. Promo’s music represents purpose; inspiring the youth to be creative and live their dreams. In 2018, Promo donated to over 15 schools from his hometown, Philadelphia, New York, Ohio, Florida, and more. People that encountered him get a similar vibe to Nipsey Hussle, Jay-Z and Gary Vee. As he strives to become better and more successful, Promo’s talent is now paying a dividend. PromoBoi has invested in multiple start-up companies, taking his music income and investing it in outside ventures like commercial space, seafood restaurants & online sites. In 2007, Promo started recording music from his mother’s living room. He would burn the songs on CDs and distribute them at school. To build a fanbase, he convinced classmates that the tracks were from mainstream artists like Rihanna, T.I., and Ne-Yo. Consequently, that strategy aided in increasing his popularity. Other attention-seeking methods include manipulating Limewire and using YouTube tricks for clickbait. Thus, he became known for music at his school.

One notable strategy exercised was shooting music videos for various artists. This, in turn, led to various career opportunities; he was able to travel the world and collaborate with mainstream artists. His traveling led to an affiliation with BMF (Blow Money Fast ); by flying to Miami and shooting videos for acts like Lil Mouse, Brittany Taylor (Love & Hip Hop), Jim Jones, and more. With his involvement in Radio/ TV Network broadcasting, PromoBoi became good friends with Empire star “Yazz.” His biggest accomplishment was getting a $75,000 record with Soulja Boy. PromoBoi is considered a marketing genius for his creative methods.

PERSONAL
PromoBoi is currently single after ending a 4 years relationship. Throughout his song “True Love Story,” he shed some light on the relationship which he thought ended badly. The track was featured on his album Against the Grain (2019). Since the breakup, he hasn’t been in a public relationship. Promo also lost his dad from kidney failure at the age of 4. Despite the unfortunate circumstance, he was emboldened to step up at a young age. He started Selling CDs, toys, and gum throughout middle school.

Promo grew up in northeast Philadelphia. He recalls doing mostly rap battles at the park which once featured Philadelphia native spitter, “Kur.” Rumor has it: the show-down was recorded but no video has been found yet. Aside from music, Promo hobbies include bowling and swimming. Promo had a past crush on L&HH star, Nia Riley (Teddy Riley’s daughter); getting caught in her Dm multiple times.
