Nicholas Paul Roache (born November 12th, 1996), and professionally known as nic violets, is an American artist, songwriter, designer, creative director, and entrepreneur. As a prominent figure in the Boston music scene, violets is widely known for his melodic, genre-bending, and distortion-doting sound. violets has amassed thousands of looks over the years while performing numerous venues and obtaining critical acclaim from respected publications in both the mainstream and underground realms. In late 2018, notable accomplishments included premiering the music video for “Diamonds Are for Friends” on the Underground Underdogs blog, and releasing the music video for “Space Coupe” under American DJ Getter’s SHRED Collective. In 2019, violets was featured on Spotify’s “Fresh Finds” editorial playlist for his valentine’s day single “Cartier Kisses” featuring Rapta. Shortly after, he performed alongside Boston-based rappers BIA and D The Flyest at The Middle East in Cambridge. Since then, he’s hosted numerous release party events and is approaching nearly 100,000 streams on his song “geek.”

CAREER
The artistic inception of nic violets was a semi-recent milestone. However, the initial inclination to make music occurred at a young age after attending a production class in middle school. A makeshift studio in his bedroom consisting of a pirate copy of Mixcraft and a USB microphone borrowed from the Playstation 2 relic Singstar was the humble beginning. Lacking the skill, guidance, and direction at such a young age and for fear of ridicule in a small, suburban town, he was forced into hiatus. While the initial run of recording artist aspiration was short-lived, new avenues of creativity emerged in the early high school years. The artist focused on the production aspect of music, building a successful street-wear clothing brand, as well as his academic endeavors.

The artist would eventually find himself crawling back to his roots. In 2016, the nic violets re-brand occurred. This newfound conviction of talent led to the release of the 2017 5-track EP “Sweet Chaos” which featured Atlanta-based rapper Nessly. Shortly after celebrating the small victory, nic had a goal to curate other creative minds in the seemingly dry city, and so he began to form a collective of artists known as DEADLOCK RIOT. By doing so, nic had garnered a lot of attention from outside sources and fostered organic relationships within the community. Other creative endeavors include nic’s 2018 appearance in the Netflix original series “The Society” and his current side-role as a music journalist with bylines at TanjTV and Grooverelly.

After picking up a lot of buzz and being featured on a radio station in Texas, violets was being scouted by labels and investors. One of the investors took violets under his wing and together they created three songs to be pitched to the radio. After some disagreements and miscommunications, the two went their separate ways and nic would stay independent for the time being. Since then, he has worked with the likes of Brevin Kim, Rapta, Woody Pond, Austin Skinner, Ericdoa, Tommy Ice, and various producers like Glasear of Neilaworld and Nick Mira of Internet Money. The aforementioned blog placements include publications like Elevator Mag, Plastic Mag, UVC, Medium, and more. He is set to appear as an extra in an upcoming music video for Millyz. To this day, nic continues breaking down boundaries and expanding his loyal following.

Though writing, recording, engineering, and mixing music is the main draw for nic violets, he is also immersed in a wide variety of hobbies as well. He loves working out, practicing graphic design, dabbling in photo and videography, writing, curating content, marketing, and establishing new business endeavors. nic currently has 10 tattoos and counting.
