Nev Schulman is an American television producer, host, actor, and photographer. He was the subject of the 2010 documentary film Catfish. His television credits include the reality series Catfish: The TV Show (2013). Schulman was born Yaniv Louis Schulman on September 26, 1984, in New York City. His older brother, Ariel Schulman, is an actor and filmmaker. Schulman attended Sarah Lawrence College in Yonkers, New York. He studied dance and photography from 2004 until his expulsion in 2006. He was expelled for hitting a female student.

CAREER
Schulman began his career as a photographer and filmmaker in New York City. Prior to that, he was a dancer with the performing arts company ‘National Dance Institute’. Schulman was highly involved in the ballet dance scene in New York City. Several of his photographs have been featured in publications like Vogue, New York magazine, and The New York Times. He co-founded the Young Leadership Committee for the youth organization ‘Leave Out Violence’. He’s also known for his work with the film production team Supermarche. Schulman rose to prominence as the subject of the 2010 documentary film ‘Catfish’. It was directed by his brother Ariel and by filmmaker Henry Joost. The film was produced by Andrew Jarecki and executive produced by Brett Ratner. Catfish tells the story of love and deception between a young man and a young woman who formed a romantic relationship on Facebook. The film’s production cost was $30,000. It made $3.5 million at the box office.

The success of Catfish led to the MTV reality series Catfish: The TV Show (2013-). The series focuses on the mystery and complexities of online dating. It premiered on November 12, 2012, and stars Schulman and his filmmaker partner Max Joseph. Schulman was featured in a 2015 episode of the comedy series ‘The Walker’ and in the romantic comedy film Nobody’s Fool (2018).
