Mozzy is an American rapper and record producer from Sacramento. His standout projects include 1 Up Top Ahk (2017), Mandatory Check (2016), and Bladadah (2015). He’s worked with such labels as Empire Distribution and Black Market Records. Mozzy was born Timothy Patterson on June 24, 1987, in Sacramento, California. His mother struggled with drug addiction and his father was mostly locked up. He was raised by his grandmother in the Oak Park neighborhood. Mozzy attended local Sacramento High School, but dropped out shy of a diploma. He would eventually complete his GED.

CAREER
Patterson began his rap career in 2004 under the moniker Lil Tim. He started out doing gospel rap. His first track to create some buzz was “U Ain’t Ready Like Dat”, released in 2010. His compilation album Lil’ Timothy N Thingz (2016) highlights his 2008 recordings as Lil Tim. Patterson underwent a name change to ‘Mozzy’ in 2011. The name change was commemorated with the album Money Means Mozzy (2011). Mozzy kicked off 2013 with the mixtape ‘The Tonite Show’, hosted by DJ Fresh. His momentum flowed over into 2014 with the albums Goonbody Embodiment, Next Body On You, and Free Mozzy. Gangland Landscape, Bladadah, and Yellow Tape Activities followed in 2015. The latter was released by Black Market Records. Mozzy ended 2015 on a high note. His effort was praised by both Complex magazine and Rolling Stone.

In 2016, Mozzy established “Mozzy Records” and began working with Empire Distribution. His label debut, Beautiful Struggle, was released in March 2016. His next project, Mandatory Check (2016), enjoyed a #7 placement on the Billboard Rap Albums chart. Mozzy dropped his ‘Fake Famous’ in January 2017. The project featured guest appearances from YFN Lucci, Iamsu!, G-Eazy, and Jadakiss among others. The joint album Can’t Fake the Real (2017) with Blac Youngsta was released in May 2017 by Play Too Much Entertainment. Another joint project, Dreadlocks & Headshots, with Gunplay followed in June 2017. Mozzy’s next solo album, 1 Up Top Ahk, was released in August 2017. It peaked at #68 on the Billboard 200. The album featured tracks like “Mandated”, “Tomorrow Ain’t Promised” and “Momma We Made It.”

Mozzy’s single “Seasons” featuring Sjava and Reason was featured on the soundtrack to Black Panther (2018). He collaborated with Jay Rock and DCMBR on the single “Nobody Knows.” The song was featured on the Spiritual Conversations (EP). Mozzy has 510K YouTube subscribers and 320+ million video views. His upcoming album, Gangland Landlord, is scheduled for October 2018.
