Monica Aldama is an American cheerleading coach and reality star from Texas. She’s best known for her lead role on the Netflix docuseries Cheers. Aldama is the long-standing cheerleading coach for Navarro College (Bulldog). The Team won 14 NCA National Championships under her leadership. The “Queen of Cheer” is also known for the popular quote “Keep going until you get it right and then keep going until you can’t get it wrong.” In 2019, she was named as 1 of the first 10 inductees into the Navarro College Athletics Hall of Fame.

Aldama was born on February 9, 1970, in Texas. She attended Corsicana High School followed by the University of Texas at Austin. It was at Corsicana that she developed an interest in cheerleading. Aldama completed her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from McCombs School of Business. She went on to earn her Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Tyler.

CAREER
Prior to television stardom, Aldama built a reputation for herself as the head coach of the Navarro College Bulldogs cheerleading team. Under her mentorship, the team won 14 NCA National Championships between 2000 and 2019. They’ve also won an impressive 5 Grand National Titles (an honor given to teams with the best overall competition score for the year in question). The Bulldog currently holds the record for the highest score at the NCA College Nationals. The moniker “Queen” was bestowed upon Aldama by her fellow athletes. The success of Navarro’s cheerleading program has earned her appearances on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Oprah’s live tour among other programs.

In 2020, Aldama made her television debut in the 6-part Netflix docuseries Cheer. The show was created by Greg Whiteley and executive produced by Andrew Fried. Cheer premiered on January 8, 2020. The series exposed the world of cheerleading to a much wider audience. In addition to Monica Aldama, the Cheer cast include Gabi Butler, Jerry Harris, Morgan Simianer, Lexi Brumback, and several others. Aldama is slated to return to the small screen in September 2020 as a contestant on season 29 of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.
