Mikey Williams is an American varsity basketball player for Lake Norman Christian School. He previously played for San Ysidro High School. Dubbed the nation’s top prospect for the class of 2023, he stands 6ft 3in tall and plays the shooting guard position. Mikey is seriously considering a historically black college/university. On June 2, 2020, he posted on Twitter “Going to an HBCU wouldn’t be too bad.” Following his tweet, HBCU programs like Howard, Delaware State, and North Carolina Central have reached out to him. The statement also caught the attention of seasoned NBA players like Carmelo Anthony, DeMarcus Cousins, and Lou Williams.

Mikey was born on June 26, 2004, in San Diego, California. His father, Mahlon, played basketball at Sweetwater High School, and his mom, Charisse Thompson, played softball at Hampton University. Charisse was named the 1999 MEAC Rookie of the Year. Growing up, Mikey would always get into fights in his elementary school with older kids. His athletic parents encouraged him to channel his energy toward basketball.

CAREER
Mikey was still a toddler when he first held a basketball. As he got older, he took his craft to the outdoors. Mikey was initially known for his ability to dunk the basketball. He played for the Malcolm Thomas All-Stars traveling team throughout his middle school years. Mikey also played for the North Coast Blue Chips in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). During his tenure, he played alongside fellow rising star Bronny James.

As a freshman, Mikey attended San Ysidro High School in San Diego, California. He played 32 games, averaged 29.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.6 steals. Those numbers earned him MaxPreps Freshman of the Year honors. Mikey wore the #1 jersey and played the point guard. On December 13, 2019, he broke the CIF-San Diego Section record with a record-high 77 points against Kearny High. The San Ysidro basketball team is headed by coach LT Terance Tucker. Terry is a retired weapons officer in the US Navy.

As a sophomore, Mikey enrolled at Lake Norman Christian School in Huntersville, North Carolina. Aside from Lake Norman and San Ysidro, Mikey has also played for the Compton Magic Basketball club in the AAU. The team was founded by Etop Udo-Ema.
