Martin Garrix is a Dutch DJ, music producer, musician, and CEO of STMPD RCRDS. His discography includes the EPs Gold Skies (2014), Seven (2016), and Break Through the Silence (2015) vs Matisse & Sadko. He topped DJ Magazine’s 2016 and 2017 lists of Top-100 DJs. Garrix was born Martijn Gerard Garritsen on May 14, 1996, in Amstelveen, Netherlands. His father, Gerard, ran a stamp auctioning company. Garrix attended the vocational school Herman Brood Academie in Utrecht. He graduated in 2013.

CAREER
Garrix learned the guitar at a young age. He was inspired by DJ Tiesto to become a DJ. His newfound interest led him to the computer software FL Studio (formerly FruityLoops). Garrix started out playing at parties throughout Amsterdam. His 2012 remix of Christina Aguilera’s single “Your Body” landed him a spot on the Dance charts. He followed up with the collaborative song “BFAM” with Julian Jordan. Garrix inked a contract with Spinnin’ Records in 2012. His breakout single “Animals” was released in June 2013. It peaked at #1 on the UK and top-10 in several other countries. It also rose to #1 on Beatport. The official video for Animals has been viewed more than 1.1 billion times on YouTube. Garrix closed out 2013 with the single “Wizard” featuring Jay Hardway. It charted at #6 in Belgium and #17 in the Netherlands. His debut EP, Gold Skies, arrived in July 2014. It was supported by the two aforementioned singles in addition to “Tremor”, “Gold Skies” and “Proxy.” In 2014, Garrix collaborated with Firebeatz, Afrojack, Dillon Francis, and MOTi among others. His second EP ‘Break Through the Silence’ versus Matisse & Sadko was released in July 2015. It received favorable reviews by publications like Billboard. In 2015, Garrix worked with Usher on the single “Don’t Look Down.” He was later featured on the song “The Only Way Is Up” from Tiesto’s album Club Life: Vol. 4 (2015). He co-produced the track “Waiting for Love” for Avicii‘s second album Stories (2015).

Garrix left Spinnin’ Records in August 2015. He launched his very own record label ‘STMPD RCRDS’ in March 2016. His label debut “Now That I’ve Found You” was released on March 11, 2016. It featured Swedish vocalist John Martin and Swedish record producer Michel Zitron. Garrix signed with Sony Music International in July 2016. The hit single “In the Name of Love” featuring Bebe Rexha followed on July 29, 2016. His third EP, Seven, was released three months later. In 2017, Garrix collaborated with Dua Lipa on “Scared to Be Lonely” and with Troye Sivan on “There for You.” He’s since worked with David Guetta, Khalid, Jamie Scott and Loopers. Garrix has performed at festivals such as Coachella (U.S.), Creamfields (England), and Tomorrowland (Belgium). He’s won several accolades, including 3 MTV Europe Music Awards.
