Martha Raddatz is an American reporter, news anchor and chief global affairs correspondent for ABC News. She reports for Nightline, World News Tonight, and contributes to The New Republic. She’s covered American foreign policy for roughly 20 years. Raddatz was born on February 14, 1953 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She grew up in Salt Lake City where she attended the University of Utah. She dropped out before completing a degree.

CAREER
Raddatz began her career as a chief correspondent at WCVB-TV in Boston, Massachusetts. She served as the Pentagon correspondent for National Public Radio from 1993 to 1998. While at NPR, she covered topics like foreign policy and defense. Raddatz began her long tenure at ABC News in January 1999. She started out as the network’s State Department correspondent covering issues like the conflict in the Middle East. Raddatz was named Senior National Security correspondent in May 2004. She later served as chief White House correspondent and later as Senior Foreign Affairs Correspondent.

Raddatz was honored with the First Amendment Award in 2012 for her excellence in journalism. She’s won 4 Emmy Awards, an International Urbino Press Award, and a Fred Friendly First Amendment Award. Raddatz authored the book, The Long Road Home: A Story of War and Family, which was published in 2007.

Raddatz moderated the 2012 vice-presidential debate between Paul Ryan and Joe Biden. She was chosen as a moderator for the second 2016 presidential debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

Martha Raddatz’s first husband was journalist Ben Bradlee Jr. She was married to lawyer and businessman Julius Genachowski from 1991 to 1997. Raddatz married ‘Tom Gjelten’, her third and current husband in 1997. She has two children, Greta Bradlee and Jake Genachowski.
