Lil Uzi Vert is an American rapper and songwriter from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He’s known for certified hits like “XO Tour Llif3”, “Money Longer”, “You Was Right” and “The Way Life Goes” with Oh Wonder. Uzi is currently signed to Generation Now and Atlantic Records. His completed projects include the album Luv Is Rage 2 (2017), the EP 2 Luv Is 2 Rage (2019), and the mixtape The Perfect LUV Tape (2016). His upcoming album is called Eternal Atake.

Uzi was born Symere Woods on July 31, 1994, in North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He dropped out of high school and was reportedly kicked out of his mom’s house shortly after. Uzi grew up listening to the sounds of Marilyn Manson, Mike Jones and Wiz Khalifa among others. Kanye West‘s 4th album 808 & Heartbreak (2008) also served as a source of inspiration. Uzi specializes in trap and East coast rap music. He was first discovered by record producers Don Cannon and DJ Drama.

CAREER
Uzi’s first two mixtapes ‘Purple Thoughtz EP Vol. 1’ and ‘The Real Uzi’ were independently released in 2014. He gained early recognition with his verse on Carnage’s 2015 single “WDYW.” His third mixtape, Luv Is Rage, arrived in October 2015. The project featured guest artists Young Thug and Wiz Khalifa. Uzi’s fourth tape, Lil Uzi Vert vs. the World, dropped in May 2016. It peaked at #44 on the Billboard 200 and was led by the singles “Money Longer” and “You Was Right.”

The Perfect Luv Tape, Uzi’s 5th mixtape, was released in July 2016. It rose to #20 on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Album charts. His collaborative EP ‘1017 vs. The World’ with Gucci Mane was released in November 2016. The project boasted production from Honorable C.N.O.T.E., Mannie Fresh, Zaytoven, and a few others. Lil Uzi’s 2nd solo EP, Luv Is Rage 1.5, was self-released in February 2017 via his SoundCloud page. It was spearheaded by the single “XO Tour Llif3”, produced TM88 and JW Lucas. Due to the song’s success, it was re-released as a commercial single.

Uzi’s long-awaited debut album, Luv Is Rage 2, was finally released in August 2017 by Generation Now and Atlantic. It topped the Billboard 200 and was certified Platinum with more than 1 million units sold. In addition to “XO Tour Lif#”, Luv Is Rage 2 was supported by singles “Sauce it Up” and “The Way Life Goes” with Oh Wonder. Recording artists Pharrell Williams and The Weeknd also had guest verses on the album. Uzi’s appeared on the track “Multi Millionaire” from Lil Pump‘s Harverd Dropout (2018). His latest singles are “New Patek” and “Free Uzi.”
