Lil B “The BasedGod” is an American rapper, music producer, and motivational speaker. He was a member of the now-defunct hip-hop group The Pack. His discography includes Rain in England (2010), I’m Gay (I’m Happy) (2011), and Black Ken (2017). Lil B was born Brandon Christopher McCartney on August 17, 1989, in Berkeley, California. He’s an only child. He attended Albany High School in Albany, California.

CAREER
Lil B began his rap career in his mid-teens. He started out as a member of the hip-hop group The Pack. The group was formed in the San Francisco Bay Area and they were active from 2004 to 2011. The other members were Young L, Stunnaman, and Lil Uno. The Pack released a series of mixtapes titled “Wolfpack Muzik”. Their debut studio album, Based Boys, was released in October 2007 by Jive Records. It produced two singles “I’m Shinin'” and “Vans”. Their second and final album, Wolfpack Party, was released in August 2010 by SMC Recordings. It featured guests artists like Mistah F.A.B., Dev, and Husalah. The Pack also released 2 EPs, Skateboards 2 Scrapers (2006) and Sex on the Beach (2010).

Lil B’s debut digital album, I’m Thraxx, was released by Permanent Marks in September 2009. He followed up with two more digital releases 6 Kiss (2009) and Paint (2010). He signed with Soulja Boy‘s SODMG Entertainment label in April 2010. They collaborated on the mixtape, Pretty Boy Millionaires, which was released in July 2010. Lil B’s debut studio album, Rain in England, was released by Weird Forest in September 2010. He dropped two more digital albums, Angels Exodus (2011) and I’m Gay (I’m Happy) (2011). The latter peaked at #20 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart and #56 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Lil B’s 2012 single “California Boy” was independently released by his own label BasedWorld Records. The official video has 1+ million views on YouTube. His latest project, Black Ken, was released in August 2017. It features iLoveMakonnen on the song “Global”.

In addition to music, Lil B is an author, motivational speaker, and activist. His first book ‘Takin’ Over by Imposing the Positive!’ was published by Kele Publishing in 2009. He’s reportedly working on a second book. Lil B has given motivational lectures at MIT, Carnegie Mellon University, NYU, and the University of California, Los Angeles. He supported Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders during the 2016 presidential election. The Based God has 1.4+ million followers on Twitter. He’s also active on Facebook and Instagram.
