Leslie Jones is an American stand-up comedian and actress. She’s a cast member on Saturday Night Live and co-star of the 2016 Ghostbusters film. Jones was born into a military family on September 7, 1967, in Memphis, Tennessee. The family moved regularly before settling down in Los Angeles, California. Jones attended high school in Lynwood, where she played basketball due to her height. She continued her basketball career at Chapman University followed by Colorado State University. She graduated with a degree in communications.

CAREER
Jones began exploring stand-up comedy while attending college. She worked as a DJ on the school’s radio station and won the contest for the funniest person on campus. Jones was encouraged by fellow comedian Dave Chappelle to pursue her love for comedy. As a result, she moved to New York where she was featured on BET’s ComicView. Jones toured with comedian Katt Williams in 2010 as part of his It’s Pimpin’ Pimpin tour.

Jones auditioned for Saturday Night Live in December 2013 and was hired as a writer. She was added to the SNL cast in 2014. Her debut was on October 25 2014 alongside Jim Carrey. As an actress, Jones starred as “Patty Tolan” in the 2016 supernatural comedy film, Ghostbusters. Other film appearances include Lottery Ticket (2010) with Bow Wow, Top Five (2014) with Chris Rock, and Trainwreck (2015) with Amy Schumer. She’s scheduled to play the role of Detective in the 2016 heist comedy, Masterminds.
