Lemmy Kilmister was an English musician, songwriter and lead vocalist for the heavy metal rock band, Motörhead. He was born Ian Fraser Kilmister on December 24, 1945 in Burslem, Soke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. He started out performing in local bands and in 1965 he became a member of The Rockin’ Vickers. A few years later he joined the space rock band, Hawkwind as a bassist and vocalist. He was fired from Hawkwind following his arrest on drug possession charges. Kilmister went on to form his own band, Motörhead, in 1975. Since their self-titled debut album in 1977, the band Motörhead has released a total of 23 studio albums, 10 live recordings, 12 compilation albums and 5 EPs. He was an avid drinker and known for his womanizing ways. He was dubbed a ‘Living Sex Legend’ by ‘Maxim’ magazine. Lemmy Kilmister died on December 28, 2015 at the age of 70. His death was attributed to an extremely aggressive cancer discovered two days after his 70th birthday. He was 5ft 10in tall and he had an estimated net worth of $10 million.
