Morelli was born on July 22, 1982, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She attended Winchester Thurston School followed by Marymount College in New York. she majored in dance. Her dance career ended prematurely due to a back injury.

CAREER
Morelli launched her professional career as a screenwriter for the series Orange Is the New Black. The show premiered on Netflix on July 11, 2013. Orange Is the New Black was created by Jenji Kohan and produced by Tilted Productions. It stars Taylor Schilling, Laura Prepon, Michael J. Harney, and several others. It was renewed for a fifth, sixth, and seventh season in February 2016.

Morelli served as the lead writer for the episodes “WAC-Pack” and “Tall Men With Feelings” from season one of OITNB. Her playwright credits include “Roach & Rat” which was featured in Just Right Now in New York. Morelli won two award nominations for “Best Comedy Series” by the Writers Guild of America.
