Up Next, Jamaican reggae/dancehall artist Koffee is making waves with youthful and conscious music. Signed to Columbia Records UK, her breakout single “Toast” became a viral hit, racking up millions of streams across major outlets. Koffee sings, raps and plays the guitar. Her discography includes the EP, Rapture (2019), and singles “Throne”, “Burning” and “Blazin” featuring Jane Macgizmo. Given the name Mikayla Simpson, she was born on February 16, 2000, in Spanish Town, Jamaica. She was raised by a single mother in the neighborhood of Eltham View. Her mom, Jo-Anne Williams, work works for the Ministry of Health. She also does acting gigs on the side. As for her father, he reportedly left for New York when she was still an infant. Koffee found her singing voice performing in her local Seventh-Day Adventist church. She also drew inspiration from her mom’s religious background. CAREER
In 2016, Koffee was encouraged by her friends to audition for her school’s talent show. She did just that and came out victorious, winning the competition. Koffee released her first single “Legend” in 2017, a tribute to Usain Bolt. It went viral on Instagram. She scored big with the follow-up single “Burning” off the Ouji Riddim, produced by Upsetta Records. The inspiration for “Burning” came after she failed to get accepted into Ardenne High School 6th Form. The track now serves as a constant reminder to move forward regardless of any setback you might face. The Ouji Riddim featured big named artists like Busy Signal and Luciano.

In 2018, Koffee was brought out on stage at ‘Rebel Salute’ and ‘Rototom Sunsplash’ festival by reggae legend Cocoa Tea. She’s since performed with her idol Protoje and later with Chronixx on BBC Radio 1Xtra. The singjay would later accompany Chronixx on his 2018 UK tour. Released by Promised Land Recordings, Koffee’s 2018 single “Raggamuffin”, aims to bring attention to gun violence and social/political issues affecting today’s youth. She was subsequently named to BBC Radio 1Xtra’s list of “Hot for 2019” artists.

Koffee closed out 2018 with the single “Toast”, produced by Walshy Fire (Major Lazer). It became a viral hit, receiving millions of streams and heavy heavy rotation on radio stations. The music video for Toast has been viewed more than 44 million times on YouTube. It was directed by Xavier Damase and produced by David Findlay. Cameos were made by Protoje and Chronixx. Toast took home the title of #1 single of the year at the Jamaica Music Industry Association. It sparked a 2019 remix version by American rapper Tory Lanez. The remix has 1.3+ million SoundCloud spins and counting.

Koffee is currently signed to Columbia Records UK. Her debut EP, Rapture, was released in March 2019. The tracklist includes “Rapture”, “Toast”, “Throne”, “Raggamuffin” and “Blazin” featuring Jane Macgizmo. The visual for Throne garnered 2.3 million views in under 5 months. Koffee latest single “Rapture (Remix)” featuring Govana was released in May 2019. The supporting music video was released 3 days later.
