Kim Namjoon aka “RM” is a South Korean rapper, songwriter, and music producer. He’s the leader and frontman of the South Korean boy band BTS. He was formerly known as “Rap Monster” or simply “Rap Mon”. His discography with BTS includes Dark & Wild (2014), Wings (2016), and Love Yourself: Her (2017). Namjoon was born on September 12, 1994, in Ilsan-gu, South Korea. He has a younger sister, Kim Kyungmin. Namjoon attended Apgujeong High School followed by Global Cyber University. He majored in broadcasting and performing arts. He also studied briefly in New Zealand.

CAREER
Namjoon started his music career as an underground rapper. His stage name at the time was “Runch Randa”. He was recruited for BTS following a talent audition. BTS aka the “Bangtan Boys” is a 7-member boy band formed in Seoul, South Korea. The group was put together by Big Hit Entertainment. The current members are Jin, Suga (Min Yoon-gi), J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V (Kim Tae-hyung), and Jungkook. Namjoon was the first member added to BTS. His stage name was changed from “Rap Monster” to “RM” in 2017. He currently serves as the group’s main rapper and songwriter. BTS has released 4 studio albums, 4 compilation albums, 5 EPs, and multiple singles. Their first project, 2 Cool 4 Skool, was released in June 2013. It included songs like “Do You”, “Monster”, “God Rap” and “Life”. The tape featured original beats from J. Cole, Major Lazer, and J. Dilla among others. The tape was dubbed one of the 50 best hip-hop albums of 2015 by Spin magazine. RM was featured on the single “Fantastic” from the Fantastic Four (2015) soundtrack. He collaborated with American rapper Warren G on the 2015 single “P.D.D”. He’s worked with artists such as Wale, Primary, Jo Kwon, and Gaeko. In December 2017, RM released a remix to “Champion” by Fallout Boy. It peaked at #18 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles, and at #2 on the Billboard Rock Digital Songs chart. RM starred in the South Korean TV series Problematic Men (2015). He’s been featured on television networks like Mnet, tvN, and KBS.
