Katie Rich is an American actress, writer and comedian. She’s best known as a comedy writer for Saturday Night Live and for her time with The Second City. Her film credits include Ice Harvest and Bad Johnson. Rich was born on June 30, 1983 in Chicago, Illinois. She grew up in Orland Park where she attended Carl Sandburg High School. She completed her undergraduate degree at Northwestern University.

CAREER
Rich made her acting debut as a member of “The Katydids” at the iO Theater in Chicago. The Katydids consists of six female members all with names derived from Katherine. Rich continued her career with the comedy troupe, The Second City. She toured and performed with them for several years. Rich has appeared in a number of shows most notably “South Side of Heaven”. She was nominated for a Equity Joseph Jefferson Award in 2013 for “Let Them Eat Chaos”.

Rich was hired by Saturday Night Live in December 2013 as a comedy writer. She’s worked on a handful of segments including the SNL’s “Weekend Update”. Her performance earned her a Writer’s Guild Award nomination for Comedy/Variety – Sketch Series in 2015. She’s also won a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Writing – Variety Series in 2016. Rich held a small role in the 2005 thriller-comedy, The Ice Harvest, starring John Cusack and Billy Bob Thornton. In addition to films, she’s also appeared in commercials for Walmart, RadioShack and Discover Card.

Rich made headlines in January 2017 shortly after President Donald Trump‘s inauguration. She came under fire for a twitter posts aimed at Barron Trump which reads “Barron will be this country’s first homeschool shooter”. Rich has since deleted the post and apologized. She was suspended by NBC indefinitely.

Katie Rich is 5ft 10in tall and rules under the star sign cancer. She suffers from panic disorder and anxiety. Rich married ‘Devlin Murdock’ in July 2015. Murdock works as a programs director for the non-profit, Recovery on Water, which aims to empower breast cancer survivors.
