Kate del Castillo is a Mexican-American film and television actress. She’s known for roles like “Leticia Bustamante” in the telenovela Muchachitas, and as “Teresa Mendoza” in La Reina del Sur. Her film credit includes Under the Same Moon (2007), Julia (2008), and No Good Deed (2014). Del Castillo was born Kate del Castillo Negrete Trillo on October 23, 1972, in Mexico City, Mexico. Her parents are Kate Trillo and Eric del Castillo. She has a sister, Veronica, and a half-brother, Ponciano. She became a U.S. citizen in 2015.

CAREER
Del Castillo began her career as a child actor. Her early film credits include Los de abajo (1978) and Las sobrinas del diablo (1983). She made her television debut as “Leticia Bustamante” on the telenovela Muchachitas. The series aired in several Latin American countries. She won a 1995 TVyNovelas Award for the best young actress for the series Imperio de cristal. Guzman escaped prison in July 2015 and she was able to arrange an interview between him and actor Sean Penn. Guzman was recaptured in January 2016. both Penn and del Castillo are under investigation by the Attorney General of Mexico (PGR). A detain-and-interrogate order was issued on del Castillo after she failed to appear before Mexican prosecutors.
