Karamo Brown is an American television host, author, and LBGTQ activist from Coral Springs, Florida. He held prominent roles on programs like The Real World: Philadelphia, Where the Bears Are!, and Are You the One: Second Chances. The youngest of 4 children, Brown was born on November 2, 1980, in Houston, Texas. He grew up in Coral Springs, Florida, where he attended Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland. The February 2018 mass shooting at his school prompted him to join the Never Again MSD movement. Brown completed his undergraduate degree in business administration at Florida A&M University. In 2004, Brown made his television debut on the MTV reality series The Real World: Philadelphia. His time on the show was significant because he was the very first openly gay African-American on reality TV. Brown was a contestant on Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Inferno II (2005). He served as a panelist/correspondent on 4 episodes of the talk show Bethenny (2012-13). He held a recurring role as “Ronnie Bishop/Reporter” on the web series Where the Bears Are (2013-14).
Brown served as a contributing host and correspondent on 54 episodes of HLN’s Dr. Drew On Call (2014-16). He hosted multiple episodes of HuffPost Live, Access Hollywood Live, and Are You the One: Second Chances. Brown joined the main cast of Netflix’s ‘Queer Eye’ in 2018. The show was created by David Collins and co-stars Antoni Porowski, Tan France, Bobby Berk, and Jonathan Van Ness. His film credits include the documentary Visible: The LGBTQ Caribbean Diaspora (2017), and the comedy film The Princess Diaries (2001).
