Jonathan Bennett is an American actor, model, and spin instructor. He starred as “Aaron Samuels” in Mean Girls (2004), as “Bud McNulty” in Cheaper by the Dozen 2 (2005), and as “Van Vilder” in Van Wilder: Freshman Year (2009). On the small screen, he’s held prominent roles in Veronica Mars, All My Children, and Awkward. He’s hosted shows Halloween Wars, Copycat, and Cake Wars. His cookbook “The Burn Cookbook”, co-written by Nikki Martin, was published in 2018.
Bennett was born to parents David (d. 2014) and Ruthanne (d. 2012) on June 10, 1981, in Rossford, Ohio. His dad was a physician. He’s 1 of 4 children, having half-siblings Brian, Brent, and Lisa. Bennett attended local Eagle Point Elementary followed by Rossford High School. He pursued theater at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio.

Post-college, Bennett headed to New York City. He supported himself working at the Mercer Hotel as a bellboy. His first television credits were the series Dad and The Bill. He was discovered by an agent who helped him land a role on the ABC soap All My Children (2001-02). He was cast as “JR Chandler.” Bennett followed up with guest spots on Law & Order: SVU, Boston Public, and Smallville. He guest-starred as “Casey Gant” on two episodes of UPN’s Veronica Mars (2004-05).
Mean Girls, Bennett’s film debut, was released in April 2004. His supporting role as “Aaron Samuels” earned him 2 Teen Choice Award nominations, including one for Choice breakout movie star. Mean Girls was directed by Mark Waters and stars Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert, and Tina Fey. Bennett starred as the title character in Van Wilder: Freshman Year (2009), a role previously held by Ryan Reynolds. He appeared in Love Wrecked (2005) with Amanda Bynes, Cheaper by the Dozen 2 (2005) with Steve Martin, and Memorial Day (2012) with James Cromwell.
