Jon Dorenbos is a retired American football player, professional magician, and founder of RAD Remodeling. Standing 6ft tall, he played the long snapper position for different NFL teams, including the Philadelphia Eagles. Jonathan Paul Dorenbos was born on July 21, 1980, in Humble, Texas. His mother, Kathy, was murdered by his father, Alan, in 1992. He has a brother, Randy, and a sister, Kristina, who works in pharmacology. Dorenbos attended Pacifica High School followed by the University of Texas in El Paso (UTEP). He graduated in 2003 with a degree in Business.
CAREER
During high school, Dorenbos excelled at various sports, including football, basketball, hockey, and baseball. He played linebacker and fullback at Golden West College for one year. Dorenbos was recruited by the UTEP Miners to play as the team’s long snapper. He played three seasons and averaged 10 tackles per year. Dorenbos went undrafted in the 2003 NFL draft.
Dorenbos was signed by the Buffalo Bills as a free agent in 2003. He played 29 games for the Bills before suffering a knee injury in 2004. Dorenbos played for the Tennessee Titans from 2005 to 2006. He was signed to a 2-year contract by the Philadelphia Eagle in November 2006. He made Pro Bowl appearances in January 2010 and again in January 2015. Dorenbos was traded to the New Orleans Saints in August 2017. He was placed on the Saint’s non-football illness list following his aortic aneurysm diagnosis. He officially retired in September 2017.
Aside from football, Dorenbos is known for his magic tricks. He competed as a magician on the 11th season of NBC’s America’s Got Talent in 2016. Jon finished in third place. The winner was Grace VanderWaal and the first runner up was The Clairvoyants. He returns to the small screen in 2019 as a contestant on America’s Got Talent: The Champions.
