John Travolta is an award winning actor and singer. He rose to stardom in the 1970s with films like Saturday Night Fever, and Grease. He was born to Helen Burke and Salvatore Travolta on February 18, 1954 in Englewood, New Jersey. His mother and five siblings have all acted at some point in their lives. Travolta grew up in a christian household but he would later convert to Scientology. He was a student at Dwight Morrow High School before dropping out to pursue acting.

CAREER
Travolta moved to New York City and made his off-Broadway debut in the 1972 production of ‘Rain’. He was later added to the cast of the musical ‘Grease’ followed by ‘Over Here!’. After conquering Broadway, Travolta moved to Los Angeles where he landed a role in the 1976 horror film, Carrie. He went on to play his most memorable roles as “Tony Manero” in Saturday Night Fever (1977) followed by “Danny Zuko” in Grease (1978). His performance in Saturday Night Fever earned him a Oscar nomination for best actor. Other notable films include ‘Urban Cowboy’, ‘Look Who’s Talking’ and the 1994 classic ‘Pulp Fiction’ which was directed by Quentin Tarantino.

Travolta won his first Golden Globe Award for his performance in ‘Get Shorty (1995)’. He starred opposite Nicolas Cage in the 1997 sci-fi action film, Face/Off. As a musician, Travolta released his debut single “Let Her In” in April 1976. He collaborated with Miley Cyrus on the 2008 pop song ‘I Thought I Lost You’.

John Travolta is 6ft 0in tall and has a net worth of $170 million. He dated actress “Diana Hyland” until her death in 1977. He married “Kelly Preston” in 1991 and they have three children, Jett, Ella and Benjamin. Jett Travolta died at the age of 16 in 2009.
