Jessica Williams is an American actress, comedian, and former The Daily Show correspondent. Her film credits include People Places Things (2015), The Incredible Jessica James (2017), and Hot Tub Time Machine 2 (2015). Jessica Renee Williams was born on July 31, 1989, in Los Angeles, California. She attended Nathaniel Narbonne High School followed by California State University, Long Beach.
CAREER
Williams made her small screen debut in 2006 in the Nickelodeon series Just for Kicks. She held a recurring role as “Vida Atwood”. In 2010, she appeared in the ‘UCB Comedy Originals’ series and the TV movie This Show Will Get You High (2010). She portrayed a “Jamaican Damsel” in the television movie Bath Boys Comedy (2011). Williams made her debut as a correspondent on The Daily Show in January 2012. She was the youngest correspondent (age 22), and the first black woman on the show. While there she worked alongside comedians Jon Stewart and Trevor Noah. She ultimately left the show in June 2016 to work on her own scripted series for Comedy Central. Williams made a cameo appearance in the film, Delivery Man (2013), starring Vince Vaughn. In 2014, she was cast as “Karen” in 4 episodes of the HBO series ‘Girls’.
Williams starred as “Jessica James” in the Netflix comedy film, The Incredible Jessica James (2017). The film premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival in January 2017. Her film credits also include People Places Things (2015) with Jemaine Clement, and Hot Tub Time Machine 2 (2015) with Craig Robinson. Williams is a regular performer at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles. She also co-hosts the comedy podcast ‘2 Dope Queens’ opposite Phoebe Robinson.
