Jesse Metcalfe is an American television and film actor from California. He portrayed “John Rowland” in the series Desperate Housewives (2004-09), “Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald” in Passions (1999-2004), and “Christopher Ewing” in Dallas (2012-14). His current television role is that of “Trace Riley” in the Hallmark drama series Chesapeake Shores (2016-). Metcalfe’s film credits include John Tucker Must Die (2006), Escape Plan 2: Hades (2018), and Hard Kill (2020).
Jesse Eden Metcalfe was born on December 9, 1978, in Carmel Valley Village, California. His parents are Nancy DeMaio and Jeff Metcalfe. Growing up, Metcalfe was always drawn to basketball. He competed in a number of basketball leagues as a teenager. Metcalfe attended The Williams School in Connecticut, followed by New York University in New York. He studied film and acting at the Tisch School of the Arts. Metcalfe dropped out of college after landing a role in the NBC series Passions.
CAREER
Metcalfe worked as a print model during his school years. In 1999, he made his television debut as “Miguel” on the soap opera Passions. He appeared in a total of 64 episodes until his 2004 departure. In 2004, Metcalfe landed his breakout role as “John Rowland” on the Desperate Housewives. His performance on the series earned him the 2005 Teen Choice Award for Choice TV breakout performance.
In 2006, Metcalfe starred as the titular character in John Tucker Must Die. The film was directed by Betty Thomas. It made $68.8 million at the box office. Metcalfe starred opposite Shriya Saran in the romantic comedy The Other End of the Line (2008). Next, he appeared alongside Amber Tamblyn and Michael Douglas in the remake ‘Beyond a Reasonable Doubt.’
In 2010, Metcalfe joined the cast of the NBC drama series Chase. For his next role, he starred as “Christopher Ewing” on the TNT drama Dallas (2012-14).
