JayDaYoungan was an American rapper and songwriter. He was known for songs like “Sliding Freestyle”, “Elevate”, “Law”, “Interstate” and “23 Island.” His discography includes RuffWay (2017), The Real Jumpman 23 (2017), Wake Up (2017), and Baby23 (2020). JayDaYoungan was born Javorius Scott on July 15, 1998, in Bogalusa, Louisiana. He was raised by his grandmother in the city of Bogalusa. His mother worked in the United States Army. JayDaYoungan attended high school up until the 12th grade. He dropped out to focus on his music.

CAREER
JayDaYoungan was drawn to the rap scene at a young age. He began pursuing music seriously in 2016. His mentor and favorite rapper was Boosie Badazz (formerly Lil Boosie). He also drew inspiration from the likes of Kevin Gates and Chief Keef. JayDaYoungan shared his story and his experiences through his music. He liked to be in the zone when he was writing/rapping, with no noise or other forms of distraction. His first project, YOUNGANimal, was released in October 2016. It featured guest appearances from YoungBoy Never Broke Again, FG Famous, and Scotty Cain.

JayDaYoungan dropped his mixtape, RuffWayy, in February 2017. It featured FG Famous on two tracks, “ChiefSosa” and “PSA”. His breakout single “Taking Off” followed in June 2017. It received thousands of plays on SoundCloud. The official video was shot and directed by Laka Films and JVisuals312. JayDaYoungan boosted his popularity with the release of “Sliding Freestyle”. The official visual has been viewed more than 6 million times on YouTube. Another tape, The Real Jumpman 23, arrived in November 2017. It included songs like “Muddy Situation”, “Betrayed” and “Facts”. His last project of 2017, Wake Up, was released on Christmas day. It was hosted by Hustle Hearted. The track-listing includes “Dream On”, “Harder Way” and “Law”.

On June 5, 2020, JayDaYoungan released his studio album, Baby23, via RuffWayy Records and Atlantic Records. It was anchored by the single “23 Island.” The project boasted vocals from Moneybagg Yo, Dej Loaf, Kevin Gates and Latto. Baby23 rose to #46 on the Billboard 200 and #30 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. JayDaYoungan dropped his ’23 Is Back’ tape in June 2021. He followed up with the EPs Scarred (2022) and All Is Well (2022).

PERSONAL
JayDaYoungan died at age 24 on July 27, 2022, in Bogalusa, Louisiana. He was shot multiple times after armed gunmen rolled up on his home in Bogalusa. The “23 Island” rapper was pronounced dead at a local hospital. His father, Scott Sr., was shot twice but survived the ordeal.

JayDaYoungan’s height was around 5ft 10in. His personal net worth was estimated at $1.5 million while he was still alive. The late rapper had the number “23” tattooed on the back of his neck, in reference to basketball great Michael Jordan. JayDaYoungan has upwards of 2 million fans on Instagram.
