Jason Momoa is an American actor, director, producer, and model. He starred as “Ronon Dex” on the series Stargate Atlantis, and as “Khal Drogo” on Game of Thrones. His film credits include Conan the Barbarian (2011) and the upcoming Justice League (2017) and Aquaman (2018). Momoa was born on August 1, 1979, in Honolulu, Hawaii. He’s an only child. His mother, Coni, is a photographer, and his father, Joseph, is a painter. He was raised primarily by his mother in Norwalk, Iowa. Momoa studied marine biology at Des Moines Area Community College. He transferred to Colorado State University where he majored in wildlife biology. He also studied briefly at the University of Hawaii.

Momoa started out as a model prior to acting. He was discovered in 1998 by international fashion designer Takeo Kobayashi. His early success earned him the 1999 Hawaii Model of the Year title. He hosted Miss Teen Hawaii USA and has modeled for brands like Louis Vuitton. Momoa auditioned and won the role of “Jason Ioane” on the NBC series Baywatch: Hawaii. He held that role for 38 episodes until the show ended in 2001. His next big role was that of “Frankie Seau” on the Fox soap opera North Shore (2004-05). Jason Momoa stands 6ft 4in tall and he’s of Native Hawaiian and German descent. He shaved off his signature dreadlocks in 2008 after 6+ years.
