Jason Derulo is an American pop singer, songwriter, and dancer. His studio albums include Future History (2011), Tattoos (2013), and Talk Dirty (2014). Derulo was born Jason Joel Desrouleaux on September 21, 1989, in Miramar, Florida. He has two older siblings including a brother named Joel. Derulo is a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. He cites king of pop ‘Michael Jackson‘ as his biggest influence.

CAREER
Derulo began his career as a ghostwriter in Los Angeles. He’s written songs for such artists as Birdman, Lil Wayne, P Diddy and Sean Kingston. Derulo competed and won ‘Showtime at the Apollo’ in 2006. He was later signed to Beluga Heights Records and Warner Bros. Records. His debut single “Whatcha Say” was produced by J.R. Rotem and released in 2009. It sold 4 million copies and was certified 4x Platinum.

Derulo’s self-titled debut studio album was released in March 2010. The album peaked at #11 on the Billboard 200 charts. His second album, Future History, was released in September 2011. It was led by the singles “Don’t Wanna Go Home” and “It Girl”. Derulo’s other albums include Tattoos (2013), Talk Dirty (2014), and Everything Is 4 (2015). His latest single “Swalla” was released in March 2017 and featured rappers Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla Sign. Other popular singles include “Wiggle”, “Talk Dirty” and “In My Head”.

In 2014, Derulo appeared as a guest judge on Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance. He joined the panel as a regular judge for season 12 in 2015. Derulo’s television credits include Empire (2015) and Lethal Weapon (2016). He was a musical guest on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars in 2013.
