ORIGIN
George Michael Zimmerman is an American best known for the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin on February 26, 2012. He was acquitted of second-degree murder on July 13, 2013 in the ‘Florida v. George Zimmerman’ trial. Zimmerman is currently suing the family of Trayvon Martin for more than $100 million USD. The lawsuit was filed on December 4, 2019, in Florida state court.

CAREER
Zimmerman was born to parents Gladys and Robert on October 5, 1983, in Manassas, Virginia. He grew up in a Catholic household and has three siblings, Robert Jr., Grace, and Dawn. Zimmerman attended Osbourn High School and was a member of the ‘Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps’ after-school program. He moved to Lake Mary, Florida, to work at an insurance agency. He also studied criminal justice at Seminole State College.

Aside from the Trayvon Martin shooting, Zimmerman has had several encounters with law enforcement over the years. He was arrested on domestic violence charges in November 2013 and again in January 2015. The charges were dropped in both cases. Zimmerman began selling paintings on touchy subjects like the death of young black men, and the confederate battle flag in 2013.

Four years after Trayvon’s death, Zimmerman tried to auction the gun used in the shooting. The weapon was first listed on GunBroker followed by United Gun Group, both with a starting bid of $5,000. He reportedly sold the weapon on May 20, 2016, for a high bid of $250,000. On December 4, 2019, Zimmerman filed a $100 million lawsuit against Trayvon’s family. In addition to Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, the suit also named Benjamin Crump, Rachel Jeantel, HarperCollins, the state of Florida and several others.

George Zimmerman is 5ft 7in tall and he’s a Libra. He’s of Hispanic ethnicity. Zimmerman was married to a licensed cosmetologist, ‘Shellie Dean’ from 2007 to 2013. They had no children. Zimmerman’s current relationship status is unknown. He was banned from the dating apps ‘Bumble’ and ‘Tinder’ in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
