Fredo Santana was an American trap/drill rapper and music producer. He was known for the album Trappin Ain’t Dead (2013), released on his own label Savage Squad Records. His standout singles include “Bird Talk”, “It’s Only Right” and “Jealous” featuring Kendrick Lamar. He was affiliated with the collective Glory Boyz Entertainment (G.B.E.). Santana was born Derrick Coleman on July 4, 1990, in Chicago, Illinois. He was an older cousin of fellow Chicago rapper Chief Keef.

CAREER
Santana began his rap career in his early 20s. His first mixtape, It’s a Scary Site, was released in 2012. It featured guest verses from Lil Reese, King L, Lil Durk and others. He followed up with the tapes Fredo Kruger (2013) and Street Shit (2013) with Gino Marley. ‘Fredo Kruger’ featured Young Scooter on the track “I Need More”. The second installment of his ‘It’s a Scary Site’ mixtape was released in December 2013. It featured guest appearance from Lil Herb, Tadoe, Lil Mouse, Tray Savage, Rondonumbanine and a few others. Santana also made a cameo in the official video for “Hold On, We’re Going Home” by Canadian rapper Drake.

Santana’s debut studio album, Trappin Ain’t Dead, was released in October 2013 by Savage Squad Records. The album peaked at #45 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart. It was supported by the single “Jealous” featuring Kendrick Lamar. Santana dropped his summer mixtape, Walking Legend, in July 2014. It featured production from Zaytoven, Will A Fool, and Young Chop among others. Rapper Tory Lanez was featured on the song “We On Our Way”. Santana was featured on Ty Dolla Sign‘s single “Familiar” alongside Travis Scott. His other projects included Ain’t No Money Like Trap Money (2015), Plugged In (2017), and Fredo Kruger 2 (2017). He collaborated with 808 Mafia on the tape, Fredo Mafia (2016).

PERSONAL
Fredo Santana died on January 19, 2018, at the age of 27. His reported cause of death was a seizure caused by lean addiction. He was also battling kidney and liver problems. Santana was around 5ft 9in tall and he was of African-American ancestry. He had multiple tattoos including a cross inked on his forehead. His personal net worth was around $2 million. He’s survived by his son Legend.
