Doris Burke is an American sports reporter and color analyst. She’s best known for her NBA basketball coverage on ESPN and for her work with the New York Knicks. Burke was born Doris Sable on November 23, 1965 in West Islip, New York. She grew up in Manasquan, New Jersey, where she attended Manasquan High School. Burke continued her education at Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island. She earned an undergraduate degree in health service administration/social work followed by a master’s degree in Education.

CAREER
Burke played varsity basketball at Manasquan as a point guard. She committed to Providence where she played four season of college basketball. Burke led the Big East Conference in assists and was named Co-Female Athlete of the Year as a senior. After graduating, Burke served as the team’s assistant coach from 1988 through 1990. She was inducted into the Providence College Hall of Fame in 2000 and into the Scholar-Athlete Hall of Fame in 2004.

Burke’s broadcasting career dates back to the early 1990s. She started out covering the Big East Women’s games and later the Big East Men’s games. Burke was named WNBA analyst for the New York Liberty on MSG in 1997. She worked briefly as an analyst for CBS Sports and for Westwood One Radio. Since her 1991 debut with ESPN, Burke has covered numerous NBA games and NCAA Championships. She’s also covered NBA playoff games on ABC.
