ORIGIN
Davido is an American-born Nigerian singer, songwriter, and music producer. He broke out in 2011 with the hit single “Dami Duro.” His discography includes the album Omo Baba Olowo (2012) and the EP Son of Mercy (2016). Davido is a co-founder of HKN Music. He’s produced music for acts like Tiwa Savage, Skales, and Sauce Kid among others. Given name, David Adedeji Adeleke, he was born on November 21, 1992, in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S. His parents are Chief Deji and the late Vero Adeleke, a business magnate and a university professor. He has an older brother named Adewale. Davido attended the British International School in Lagos, Nigeria. Back in the United States, he attended Oakwood University, majoring in business administration. He earned a degree in music from Babcock University in 2015.

CAREER
Davido developed an interest in music while attending Oakwood University. Still a teen at the time, he would make beats and research music production in his free time. He was a member of the music group KB International. In 2011, Davido dropped out of Oakwood University and moved back to Lagos, Nigeria. His debut single “Back When” featuring Naeto C was released later that year. His second single “Dami Duro”, produced by Shizzie, achieved critical success. The song won the Nigeria Entertainment Award for the hottest single of the year. It also picked up an award for best video by a new artist at the Nigeria Music Video Awards (NMVA). A remix to Dami Duro featuring Akon was released in 2012.

Davido and his brother Adewale formed the record label HKN Music. The label is home to B. Red, DeeKay and Sina Rambo. Davido’s debut studio album, Omo Baba Olowo, was released in July 2012. It featured guest appearances from Sina Rambo and Ice Prince. The album won Best R&B/Pop Album at the 2013 Headies Awards. Davido’s second album, The Baddest (2015), went unreleased. The track-listing include “Globe”, “Skelewu”, “Aye” and “Fans Mi” featuring American rapper Meek Mill. His 5-tracked EP, Son Of Mercy, was released in October 2016. It featured Simi on the track “Maga To Mugu.” In 2017, Davido collaborated with Rae Sremmurd and Young Thug on the song “Pere.” His more recent songs include “Assurance”, “Flora My Flawa” and “Nwa Baby.”
