David Blaine is an American magician and illusionist known for his endurance stunts. Selected stunts include Frozen in Time, Drowned Alive and Dive of Death. Blane was born on April 4, 1973 in Brooklyn, New York. His mother, Patrice, was a teacher, and his father, William, a Vietnam War veteran. He has a half-brother named Michael. Blaine spent his early childhood in Brooklyn before moving to New Jersey at age 10. There he attended Passaic Valley Regional High School in Little Falls. He moved back to New York City in his late teens.

CAREER
Blaine’s first special, Street Magic, aired on NBC in May 1997. It drew praises from Time magazine and from fellow magicians Penn and Teller. His second project, Magic man, was released the following year. Blaine’s first endurance stunt was his 1999 ‘Buried Alive’. For the stunt he spent an entire week buried underneath a 3-ton tank filled with water. In Frozen in time (2000), Blane spent over 64 hours encased in a block of ice. His book titled ‘Mysterious Stranger: A Book of Magic’ was published in 2002.

Blaine’s other stunts include Above the Below (2003), Drowned Alive (2006), Revolution (2006), Dive of Death (2008), and Electrified: One Million Volts Always On (2012). His television special ‘Real or Magic’ aired on ABC in November 2013. Blane’s latest project ‘Beyond Magic’ airs on ABC on November 15, 2016. The 1-hour special features celebrity guests like Drake, David Beckham, Stephen Curry, John Travolta and many others.

David Blaine is 6ft tall and is of Puerto Rican, Italian and Russian ancestry. He has an estimated net worth of $12 million. Blaine was romantically linked to actress Fiona Apple and model Josie Maran. He has a daughter named Dessa with ex-fiancée Alizee Guinochet.
