D’Angelo Russell is an American professional basketball player currently signed to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He stands 6ft 5in tall and plays the point guard position. Russell was named to his first NBA All-Star game in 2019. His career highlights include an All-Rookie Second Team selection (2016). Russell spent his freshman year at Central High School in Louisville, Kentucky. He then transferred to Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida. He led his team to back-to-back championships and was named McDonald’s All-American in 2014. Russell continued his basketball career at Ohio State University. He became the first Ohio State freshman to record a triple-double. He won the 2015 Oscar Robertson Trophy, Wayman Tisdale Award, Jerry West Award and earned first-team All-Big Ten honors.

Russell was selected with the second overall pick by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2015 NBA draft. His first rookie game was against the Minnesota Timberwolves on October 28, 2015.
