DaBaby aka Baby Jesus is an American rapper out of Charlotte, North Carolina. His standout singles include “Light Show,” “First Day Out,” and “Above The Rim” featuring Money Man. Consistently releasing new projects, he is well known for his “Baby Talk” mixtape series. Real name, Jonathan Kirk, he was born on December 22, 1991, in Cleveland, Ohio. At the age of 6, he relocated and settled in Charlotte, North Carolina. He grew up in the rough streets and often had run-ins with the law. Over the years, Baby developed quite the track record. From driving with a revoked driver’s license to illegal possession of marijuana, he got arrested on various occasions. He got into music with the sole purpose of helping people. That, however, was an allegation and should not be immediately taken as fact. The victim was identified as 19-year-old Jalyn Domonique Craig. Turns out the incident was legit. He defended himself against an armed robber. After the case was settled, DaBaby received a one-year unsupervised probationary sentence.

On January 23, 2019, DaBaby announced that he officially inked a deal with Interscope Records. Also a South Coast Music Group signee, he agreed on a joint contract with both labels. On March 1, 2019, DaBaby released his first major-label album, Baby on Baby. Released under Interscope Records, the 13-track project featured Offset, Rich Homie Quan, Stunna 4 Vegas, and Rich The Kid.

Since the start of 2019, DaBaby has been dominating hip-hop music with a series of hits. “Suge,” his hottest single yet, has posted staggering numbers. Unveiled in March of 2019, the “juggernaut of tracks” has been streamed over 450 million times in just 7 months. He collaborated with Megan Thee Stallion on “Cash Shit” and Quality Control & Lil Baby on “Baby.” On October 7, 2019, Billboard announced that DaBaby’s latest album “Kirk” clinched the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. A major achievement, it becomes the rapper’s first top-ranked album. Most, if not all, of the album’s tracks, are ranked on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. DaBaby was also crowned best new hip-hop artist at the 2019 BET Awards.
